AQUA FOUNDATION FOR WOMEN CELEBRATES ITS 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY
The Foundation invites you to celebrate at it’s annual cocktail fundraiser, Aqua Affair
Miami, FL (August 15, 2014) — Aqua Foundation for Women, the only organization of its kind in South Florida is turning ten years old and members of its board, staff and supporters want you to join in on the celebration on September 20th, 7:00pm to 10:00pm at the beautiful Gale South Beach.
Aqua Foundation for Women was created in response to the need to have an organization run by women and for women. At the time, and still, there are not enough women leaders in the LGBTQ community. Aqua was created in part to be the beacon for LBT women to be more involved.
“I’m so very proud of all Aqua has accomplished in 10 years” says Aqua Foundation for Women Executive Director, Robin Schwartz. “Since its inception, Aqua has awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships and grants. We have fostered collaboration with others to increase impact including partnering with The Miami Foundation and Our Fund to raise $100,000 to support LGBTQ youth who are homeless, Schwartz adds.
The foundation shows no signs of slowing down. Later this month, Aqua will launch its very first Emerging Leaders Conference, a series of workshops developed to motivate and teach LBT women leadership skills. Additionally, it continues to host TransCon, a conference for the transgender community as well as an LGBTQ Family BBQ.
On September 20th, 2014, Aqua Foundation will be honoring its founders which include: Alicia Apfel, Alison Burgos, Alyse Mcgowen, Cindy Brown, Elizabeth Schwartz, Martha Sternberg, Robin Schwartz and Vivian Lamadrid at the annual cocktail event, Aqua Affair. Being held at the rooftop of the beautiful Gale South Beach hotel, attendees will enjoy complimentary savory cocktails provided by Grey Goose vodka, delectable bites and enjoy a live performance by local musician, Es Oh. A stellar silent auction will feature items from Olivia Travel, JetBlue Airways and several local events, hotels, eateries and more.
