(Miami, Florida – September 8, 2006)

We are excited to welcome María Cora, to the Aqua Foundation for Women family. Maria is the first staff member for AFW since it’s inception two years ago and represents an exciting step in our growth.

Maria moved from San Francisco to South Florida just one year ago, with her partner. She brings with her 16 years experience with the Office of Women’s Health at the San Francisco Department of Public Health dedicated to protecting the health of women, adolescents and LGBT communities.

She implemented projects in collaboration with the Lesbian Health Research Center at UCSF, the Dimensions Queer Youth Health Clinic and the Lavender Youth Resource Information Center.
Maria was also a Member of the Board of Directors of the San Francisco LGBT Community Center and a founding member of several lesbian of color community organizations including the Nia Collective, Mujerío and Ellas En Acción.

Maria received her Bachelors degree from Harvard University and her Masters degree at San Francisco State University.

Her experience and passion for our community will be a great asset to us all.

Welcome!
